A Recap of the 2024 Annapolis Boat Shows

October brought two of the most highly anticipated events in the boating world—the Annapolis Powerboat Show (October 3-6) and the Annapolis Sailboat Show (October 10-14). While YaZu Yachting may be a brokerage specializing in pre-owned yachts, our team makes it a priority to stay on top of the latest innovations and trends in the industry. Attending these boat shows ensures we’re always informed, ready to advise customers, and equipped to discuss the latest offerings in the market with other professionals.

Highlights from the Annapolis Powerboat Show

Broker Bob Hoefer, accompanied by his wife Connie, attended the Annapolis Powerboat Show. This year, Bob and Connie enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new industry connections, all while exploring some of the most cutting-edge boats on display. Here are a few highlights from the show that captured Bob’s attention:

  • Axopar 45 Cross Cabin: The Axopar 45 Cross Cabin is all about versatility. Its modular design and multifunctional features make it great for cruising in any weather. It’s the first outboard-powered, fully enclosable walk-around cabin boat in its class, giving you the option to switch between an open-air feel and a fully enclosed cabin.

  • Candela C-8: The Candela C-8 is a real game-changer in electric boating. With its fully retractable hydrofoil system, it saves up to 80% more energy than traditional boats at 22 knots. This sleek, 100% electric boat hits a top speed of 30 knots and can go up to 57 nautical miles on a single charge. It’s also designed to handle waves up to 1.2 meters in hydrofoil mode before switching to planing mode, making it a standout for eco-friendly, high-performance cruising.

  • Iguana Commuter: The Iguana Commuter is one of the most innovative boats out there, with its ability to go from land to water in under 8 seconds thanks to its integrated track system. Once the tracks are retracted, it becomes a high-speed boat that can reach up to 60 knots. It’s a cool mix of functionality and luxury, with features like a weatherproof helm, an electric swim ladder, and an advanced system that makes navigating easy, no matter the conditions.

  • Ghostworks M40 Class: Built for versatility and performance, the Ghostworks M40 Class is a carbon fiber vessel designed to operate in a variety of environments, from security operations to cold-weather missions. Its M-Hull design significantly reduces impact and wave slap, providing superior stability and efficiency. The M40’s flexibility makes it a popular choice for security, search and rescue, and commercial applications.

During his time at the Powerboat Show, Bob also conducted a private showing of a trawler at Herrington Cove, and took advantage of the bustling event to showcase YaZu’s brokerage listings

The Annapolis Sailboat Show

The next week, broker Matt Lambert attended the Annapolis Sailboat Show, checking out new models from brands like Jeanneau, Bali, and Dufour. While exploring the latest in sailing, Matt also kept up with the Annapolis tradition by enjoying a classic Painkiller cocktail during the show.
