Bought and SoldI bought my Lagoon 450 from Anne and Jonathan back in 2015. It had been sitting unused for a number of years and they represented the boat fairly and negotiated with me (on behalf of the owner) in good faith. At every step they demonstrated honesty, integrity, and real expertise.After the sale, they repeatedly helped me with my planned refit by connecting me to honest and reliable trades people for everything from engines to sails and electrical to canvas.My wife and I spent five winters living on the boat in the Bahamas with annual trips between Annapolis and Exuma. We loved the adventure and lifestyle but got caught in the pandemic while in Exuma. We had to leave “Celestial” there for what we thought would be a few weeks but the lockdown extended for nearly two years.When we finally were able to recover her, she was in poor shape and the dreaded “Lagoon 450 bulkhead problem” had surfaced. We made the decision to sell her and, on advice from Jonathan and Anne, we brought her to Zimmerman Marine in Deltaville VA. They were able to restore Celestial and provide the factory authorized service for the “bulkhead problem”. Anne then worked her magic to get Celestial cleaned up and ready for sale. After we sold our last "Trawler" we decided to wait until a speedier version of what we had already had appeared, and VOILA! Johnathan and Anne Hutchings showed us a Beneteau 34 Swift Trawler, however, alas, it was already under contract!Several months later we contacted Anne about another similar vessel for sale and asked her to investigate. Turns out it was a non-starter for us as it had the European Electrical system that we were not interested in.Fast forward to our finding a new listing by owner and we asked Ya-Zu to investigate. Where to even begin in describing the incredible experience of working with Anne and Jon of YaZu Yachting. My husband and I are first time sailboat owners so beginning the journey of finding a boat was a bit overwhelming at times. We were incredibly fortunate to discover YaZu after a lot of online boat searching the East Coast and finding a boat they had listed which fit a lot of the specifications we were looking for. Immediately upon contacting YaZu to arrange a time to see the boat, we were so impressed by the kindness and thoroughness of Anne on just the first phone call. They arranged for us to see the boat in only a few short days and upon meeting and touring the boat, Anne was the perfect mix of informative while also allowing us space to deliberate with each other and ask a lot of questions. The boat they were selling they had long been familiar with, having a strong relationship with the original owners and having sold it to another buyer only a year or so before. In the early fall of 2021, the stars had finally aligned in such a way that Malena and I were able to begin our search for a new floating home. The only thing we knew at the time was that we wanted a sailboat, and that it had to be roomy enough to live comfortably on, and a seaworthy vessel in which we could ply the waters of the Caribbean.

During our initial search, we met Jon with YaZu Yachting, who showed us two boats. We had already seen several other boats that day, and we were not impressed with either the boats or the brokers, and we came to this meeting with some skepticism. By the end of the meeting, we knew two things: that we would be looking for a Beneteau 473, and that we really liked Jon.

We engaged YaZu Yachting to help us in our search for that perfect 473, and when I found the listing for Siderno up in Annapolis, Anne – co-owner of YaZu – dug into it and assisted us in too many ways to count. Here are the highlights:

1) She set us up with an expert in Beneteau yachts for our initial viewing.
2) She put us in touch with a reliable boat loan broker.
3) When we decided to make an offer, she provided a list of surveyors who would look at the boat with a proper critical eye, and our interests in mind.
4) She met us in Annapolis for the survey and helped track down some of the issues with the boat.
5) She provided us with her recommendation for an insurance broker and advised that I get in touch with them early on so as not to cause delays if/when we went to closing.
6) She guided us through the closing process, helping make this as stress free as a transaction of this scope could be.

There was quite a bit more involved than what I’ve listed above, but I am convinced that the single smartest thing we did in our quest for a new home was to enlist the assistance of the good people of YaZu yachting.

John and Anne helped me buy my boat back in 2015, but they have remained available ever since and have responded promptly to my every question and concern.Let me tell you about them:From the first moment I met him, Jon impressed me with his knowledge, expertise and willingness to help me find a boat to meet my needs.In particular, he gently nudged me to consider a cockpit configuration (starboard mount vs. traditional center pedestal) that I was foolishly too quick to dismiss initially. Jon showed me how the starboard mount makes the cockpit seem more roomly, just as the more modern twin-helm boats do.When I finally found the boat I wanted - with the cockpit config Jon encouraged me to consider - he conducted the negotiations to my satisfaction.Then he recommended a remarkably thorough surveyor and he offered to participate in the sea trial at no cost to me - despite the fact that the boat was hundreds of miles away. Jon got me good rate for both the surveyor and the short haul.During the sea trial, he even taught me a better way to coil the running rigging – that's a lesson I won't soon forget!When the surveyor's discrepancy list proved longer than either of us expected, Jon worked with the seller's broker to resolve these issues - and again exceeded my expectations.Then Jon found a ferry captain to reposition the boat, and recommended a yard that would provide winter storage at low cost.Jon provided world-class customer service every step of the way, from initial consultation, to negotiation, to sea trial and repositioning.I felt completely confident that Jon was always working in my best interest, even though the cost was being borne by someone else.In addition, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the effort that Anne put into this transaction. Not only was the boat hundreds of miles away, but it was registered in a foreign country: Canada.So Anne jumped in and found out what was necessary to clear up the paperwork with Canada. As a novice sailor looking to buy my first large sailboat, an older but unique custom Colvin listed with YaZu Yachting, I had a lot of questions and sometimes concerns, and to my great satisfaction and relief, Anne, Jonathan, and Rachel were always available to help me. I live almost four hours away from the boat and office, so the YaZu crew were my eyes and ears on the ground. Many times I forgot that technically they were working for the seller rather than me, because I always felt that they had my best interests at heart as well as the seller’s. They went above and beyond the paperwork and were very involved in the survey, helping me find an insurance provider and a delivery captain, and working with the boat yard and seller to address some unexpected maintenance issues. The best part of buying our new Lagoon was meeting Anne and Jonathan. They are extremely knowledgeable and experienced brokers, but beyond that, they are just fantastic people. We recently purchased our first sailboat (which was listed by YaZu down in Deltaville, Virginia). Anne was our “buyers” broker when my wife and I purchased our Beneteau 361 in 2014. We first started working with Anne and Jonathan in 2007, looking to replace our Hunter with a larger, more up-to-date boat.
