The Lagoon 450 S  (S for Sportop) was introduced by Lagoon to complement the highly successful 450 Flybridge model. The intention was to provide a catamaran more suited to a cruising couple or family who wanted the helm area to be more closely connected to the cockpit and main salon, for safety and communication under way,  than the isolated helm on the flybridge version. The hardtop helm is a starboard offset steering position, allowing direct access to both the cockpit area and the main deck.  Given the location and configuration of the helm, the mast is 2′ shorter than that of the 450F and the boom is lower; thus the boom and sail bag are easily accessible from the cabin top and mast & boom are visible from helm top window. This model was an immediate hit, building on the 450’s reputation as an ideal cruising vessel, with great load carrying capacity.

Meraki is a three cabin, owner version, commissioned in France and sailed to the USA by the first owners. The second (current) owners have made significant upgrades to the yacht’s systems. All equipment upgrades were done with reliability in mind.  They have cruised the North American east coast from Nova Scotia to the Bahamas and as far south as Grenada over the past five years. Meraki has been their full time home and the pristine condition of this vessel is a reflection of proud and conscientious owners who have stayed on top of the smallest of maintenance needs for the yacht. You will be hard-pressed to find a cleaner Lagoon 450!

The philosophy of both sets of owners has been to spend as little time as possible in marinas, preferring instead to be on anchor enjoying the natural environment with minimal noise from systems. The current owners added Lithium batteries and a generous solar array, with this in mind.  Since Meraki is configured for off-the-grid cruising, she is not equipped with a generator or air conditioning system. Hatches and fans have sufficed for boosting air flow below decks.

During their time at anchor the yacht systems were supported by:
1440W solar panel array
1200AH lithium battery house bank,
185 gallons of fresh water (standard is 92 G)
26 gal/hr 12V watermaker
2 x 3000W inverters providing 115V and 220v AC power.
2 x 57 HP Yanmar diesel engines (upgrade –  w/ 1120 hours)
2 x 137 gallon fuel capacity

Meraki’s navigation and communication equipment is “best in class’.  B&G electronics at the helm and the interior navigation station enabling full navigation capabilities from the helm and the salon (see Descriptions/Specifications for details).

Some of Meraki’s upgrades and highlights include:

Accommodations

The Lagoon 450 series is known for its thoughtful layout, exceptional headroom (6’ 4”), and comforable appointments. The interior of the Lagoon 450S is spacious and light, with excellent visibility through the numerous salon windows and cockpit windows & door.

The galley u-shaped is to port of the sliding door and opens into the salon. There is plenty of counter space, a large single tub sink with premium faucet (2019), and a 3-burner propane stove and oven. Refrigerator and freezer conveniently located in the galley & salon, with a second fridge in the cockpit.

The starboard hull is the owner’s hull with queen-sized berth aft (with slats under the mattress) which can be accessed from each side. Meraki has the credenza configuration, which gives storage all the way down the outer side of the hull as well as on the inner side of the hull (forward). The head is forward with excellent storage, vanity, electric toilet (salt water flush) and separate shower stall.  A sliding door at the base of the steps creates privacy between the hull and the salon.

The port hull is the guest hull; cabins have queen berths (w/ slats under mattresses) with generous storage, en-suite heads, each with separate shower stall & electric (salt water flush) toilet. Light in the hulls is phenomenal, thanks to large fixed portlights  as well as overhead hatches.
