The Jeanneau 44DS is an ideal family cruising boat. With the 3 cabin (1 bunk cabin), 2 head layout, it is versatile and has easy ‘flow’ allowing a large crew to move around each other. This boat has excellent head room throughout; lots of light, provided by the eyebrow windows in the salon as well as fixed ports in the hull sides; and a modern look, thanks to the Walnut finish of the interior; a luxurious owner’s cabin aft and 2 guest cabins forward.

The exterior is also ideal for cruising, easy access to, and egress from, the water, are facilitated by transom step, walkthrough transom and double helm which clears the center of the aft cockpit. A large central cockpit table and lots of seating make the cockpit comfortable at anchor and under way.  A comfortable step-over to the side decks and easy traverse to the bow make for safety at sea. It is renowned for its performance under sail thanks to the Philippe Briand designed hull and rig.

Accommodations

The companionway leads directly into the salon with the galley to starboard and access to the aft head, to port.

The galley is L-shaped with plentiful counter space and storage as well as sink, stove & microwave. The aft cabin can be accessed from the galley or through the aft head, which has doors to salon and aft cabin. The aft cabin is expansive and stretches across the whole of the stern area.  The king berth is an unusual feature in a vessel of this size.  It  centerline, with plenty of headspace above  and easy access from either side.  It has a custom mattress (2023), hardly used. Standing headroom near the doors, storage in cabinets along both hulls as well as at the forward end of the cabin, bedside tables & lamps and a settee on each side, make this feel like home.

The aft head has a basin, toilet, fold down counter above the toilet & shower.  The shower area can be separated from the head by a bi-fold perspex door that is stowed up against the midships bulkhead when not in use.

The salon is comfortable and well appointed, with excellent head room. New cushions with Ultraleather upholstery in 2022. The Nav Station is to port and a has a large table, with double opening desk lids on top and drawers below. Electrical panel and electronics are on hull side, mounted on cabinetry specific to that purpose.  The TV is on the aft bulkhead above the nav station.  The port settee serves as a seat for the nav station.

The Dinette is to starboard with U-Shaped settee and a large table that can be converted to a double berth.  There is storage below the settees as well as along the hull sides. A double hatch above, allows superb ventilation and eye-brow windows as well as fixed ports in the hull provide plenty of light.

From the salon there is a step down to the bow accommodation on the port side of the compression post.  A short passageway leads to the V-berth, with a bunk cabin to port and head to starboard.  The bunk cabin has storage and forward and small hatch above.  The V-berth has a shelves along the hull, a large storage locker to starboard, a  large hatch, a good deal of standing area. The head has a vanity w/ basin, shower and head with a perspex divider between the vanity and toilet.
