The interior of the Jeanneau 42DS is light, thanks to large eyebrow windows on each side and some large hatches. The beige upholstery 7 white bulkheads reflect the light and the layout creates a sense of space.
The galley is to starboard as you come down the companionway, with access to the aft cabin behind. To port is the aft head, with electric toilet & shower, which provides a walk-through to the aft cabin. The aft cabin has a queen, centerline berth with custom mattress (2021); storage and curved settees on either side. The back of the engine compartment can be accessed through a removable box at the front of the cabin.
The nav desk is port side, midships, with a settee forward of that. The area beneath the settee is easy-to-access storage. The dining table is offset to starboard with U-shaped settee to make up the dinette. The table has hinges, so can be made larger or smaller, depending on the number of crew.
The door to the V-berth is offset to port. There is a large overhead hatch, lockers to port and a head to starboard. The V-berth has a custom mattress topper (2021)
The keel was completely removed this spring.
All the old keelbolts were removed and replaced with new nuts and bolts ordered from Jeanneau. The surfaces of both the hull and keel were prepped professionally and then rejoined with an appropriate marine bonding agent.
After rejoining, new nuts were torqued onto the bolt shafts in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation.
Matching bottom paint was then applied as needed.
