Chuck Neville has over 30 years of experience designing trawlers, catamarans, and other motor vessels. Neville works with clients to bring their dream yacht to fruition. He has designed everything from Nordhavns to motorsailers used by private individuals and commercial companies like Cheoy Lee Shipyards and South Coast Marine. Neville’s commercial work includes Cape Horn 75 and 81 foot trawlers, Corinthian Catamarans, and the 94 foot trawler, the Black Douglas. He also designed propulsion systems used by the US Coast Guard. Neville worked with Seahorse Marine to build and design the 44 foot steel trawler Coriolis.
Widebody Liveaboard Cruiser
AN EXCELLENT BOAT FOR LONG DISTANCE TRAVEL
Perfect for a couple or family
This is an ‘XL’ version of 44′ trawler cruisers, mainly because of the interior volume gained by widebody design (no side decks aft of amidships). This has allowed for an extra-large main saloon, with panoramic windows in all directions. At anchor or at dock, you feel like you’re in a spacious waterfront condo!
This design also allows for an exceptionally deep and wide covered aft deck/cockpit, which creates a level of privacy and security that is uncommon on most 44′ boats. Teak decking on aft deck adds to the comfort, knowing that you can go barefoot on your ‘back porch’! There is a steel swim platform and locking transom door, for those who like to snorkel or dive. Deep lazarette under, for tools, gear, and general stowage. Cockpit camera, propane locker, double doors to main saloon. Ladder to upper deck.
Entering the saloon, traditional glossy teak-and-holly floors, silk curtains, and an impressive dining area, port side, await your party of 6! No one will be crowded, as this is a true ‘adult-size’ area for eating and relaxing. It is just aft of the ship’s galley, which features generous bar and countertop surfaces, louvered upper & lower cabinetry, double sinks, large Force 10 stove and NovaCool refrigeration. Again, BIG windows and task lighting make this whole space very appealing, and the days of ‘galley-below’ are thankfully long gone.
Opposite the dining area & galley is a whole wall of windows, and fine joinery with shelves. This is an ideal location for your library and DVD collection. A very deep hanging locker, starboard, is located at the steps up to the pilothouse. There are also well-placed light switches for easy operation.
Companionway down, forward, leads to master stateroom with island queen berth; starboard side cabin with office; port side private head with large shower.
Master stateroom features 4 opening ports, overhead hatch, port & starboard lighted hanging lockers, built-in bureau. This space offers good cross-ventilation and ‘room to stretch’.
Side cabin contains upper & lower berths, and well-organized desk and cabinet for office duties. Engine room access is conveniently located on the cabin’s aft bulkhead.
Moving aft into the engine room, the boat’s widebody design again allows for a huge, uncluttered space, which includes a work area with vise. All equipment and systems are easily accessed for routine service and checks. Engine room camera feeds live images to the helm, for monitoring while underway.
Wood-paneled wheelhouse, up from main saloon, presents well-designed center helm, clear instrumentation, raised table & settee, port & starboard Freeman dutch doors (all exterior doors can be dogged & made weather-tight on this boat). Wheelhouse is set quite far forward for maximum visibility, giving the skipper unobstructed views. Aft-facing windows abaft settee with table, and upper pilot berth.
Foredeck has large well and anchor chute, also clearly visible from wheelhouse. Starboard sidedeck leads directly to upper deck & flybridge, from wheelhouse & foredeck.
Upper deck has Marquip crane; boom, and mast (which can be lowered for low bridges). Plenty of room for dinghy or deck furniture. Raised flybridge provides exterior center helm command of the vessel and superior ‘height advantage’ for those times when the skipper needs to see above the fray. Bimini for shade. Excellent railings all round for safety. Secure ladder with hatch, down to aft cockpit.
Owners are currently out on their last “Hoorah” cruise on the Chesapeake Bay before bringing her back home to Deltaville to find her new owner. Viewings can be arranged before she pulls back into home port so don’t delay in calling for a showing!
Everywhere you look on this vessel you find massive storage. From the pilot house to the engine room there is ample storage to allow for extended cruising. The salon’s starboard cabinets can can allow for a washer/dryer combo (pre-plumbed) and even more refrigeration space.
Large master stateroom forward, with queen centerline berth. Hanging lockers with interior lighting, port and starboard; bureau with mirror. Four opening ports & overhead hatch. Port & starboard reading lamps.
Side cabin with desk, stool, upper cabinetry, and upper/lower berths; starboard. Reading lamps.Watertight door to engine room.
Single pilot berth in wheelhouse, aft of wheelhouse settee and table.
Private head with full size shower, electric full size toilet, ample storage, under cabinet lighting.
Fully equipped galley up, port amidships. Prep counter, plus upper serving/bar counter. Upper & lower louvered cabinets. with exhaust fan.
