The Tayana 55 has the feel of a small ship, it has a fantastic deck layout and the interior is spacious and well appointed. The hull is solid fiberglass with a balsa cored deck.  The lines are classic and sleek. The waterline length, heavy displacement, deep draft & tall rig, make this a fine sailing vessel that is sea-kindly and comfortable.  The sail-handling winches are all on the cockpit coamings, within easy reach of the wheel, allowing for short-handed sailing.  The cockpit access is an easy transition from the expansive aft deck. The extended cockpit coamings provide comfort & good protection for the crew, as does the fixed wind screen and the dodger which comes some way aft of the companionway.  The wide side decks allow easy passage forward when under way.
