Rubicon is loaded with gear and unique upgrades and options! Her owners have cruised her and loved her for 19 years.  During that time they have customized the boat on many levels, to make life on board more convenient and cruising safer.  Every detail has been thought through before executing – from custom retractable davits, to interior lights having a white/red option; from extending the v-berth in the bow, to replacing the pesky, original vinyl hull liner, which was prone to sagging, with elegant wooden slats and so much more.

The interior of the Moorings 38 is the fabulous Beneteau ‘art nouveau’ styling of the late 1980’s to early 1990’s, with rounded cabinets and soft edges juxtaposed with simple straight lines. The M38 is unusual for a 38 foot boat in that it has 2 heads, so is ideal for a family or a 2 couples.

Designed originally as a racer-cruiser, the M38 performs well in both light air and heavy air conditions. It is easy to climb aboard from the sugar scoop transom and the cockpit is not only convivial, it has a lot of storage.

Some interesting upgrades and customizations are:

Lead keel (most Beneteaus have cast iron keels)

2-Cabin, 2-head layout

ROCNA 44lb primary anchor w/ 150′ high tensile chain (2020) & 250′ rode

Custom polycarbonate storage shelf above galley counter

Custom draining rack & cutting board in galley

Polyethylene water tanks

PUR 35E Watermaker

Extended berth in V-berth w/ new Memory foam mattress

Wooden hull liner strips throughout

… and a lot more.

Rubicon will need  bottom paint and hull compound and wax to spruce up the exterior, but she is pretty much ready to take you across the Rubicon… or wherever else you wish to sail.

Accommodations

This boat is classic  late-80’s-early 90’s Beneteau. Rounded corners to cabinets & vertical rounded windows at the rear of the salon give it an ‘Art Nouveau’ feel. The galley is to port of the companionway with double sink, storage, stove  and ‘marble’ counter tops and custom anodized aluminum trim.  Above counter level is a custom storage shelf, complete with custom ‘stanchion and lifeline’ fiddle & custom lighting.

The aft cabin is behind the galley – with double bunk, cedar strip hull liner and plentiful storage.

To starboard is the aft head with composting head, vanity, pull out shower & shower curtain.

Forward of the head is a cabinet-cum-countertop-cum-chart table which houses the huge freezer and fridge. They have separate lids and extra insulation. Behind the counter top is the electrical panel and some electronics.

The salon consists of 2 straight settees with a centrally positioned table that has leaves that open up and extend to each settee. Custom cushions w/ velour upholstery are in excellent condition.  The original hull liner has been replaced with elegant mahogany slats. There is a TV on the port, forward bulkhead and clock and barometer on the starboard bulkhead with a magazine holder below.  Storage above and below the settees.

The forward cabin has an extended  v-berth in the bow.  It has a new memory foam mattress with Froli System beneath to stop condensation as well as custom mahogany headboard.  TV on forward bulkhead, mahogany slatted hull liners and storage to starboard.  Head compartment with composting head and basin, to port.
