Mid Night is a rare offering of a Venus 46. The Venus is a robust fiberglass center cockpit, blue-water cruiser, built in South Korea to a design by Salthouse Brothers of New Zealand. Mid Night has had a near complete exterior refit and partial interior refit under her current ownership.
The decks are the original teak, over fiberglass, in excellent condition. Wide side decks allow easy movement for sail tending and an expansive after deck is ideal for landing fish, putting up a work bench or using as a cocktail deck to watch the sun set. The large, deep cockpit allows for safe cruising, protected from the elements by a full enclosure.
The boat has a large interior, well suited to a round-the- world trip or for use as a live-aboard, for a couple or a family. The previous owner had plans for setting the boat up for extensive cruising. He purchased it in 2004, stored it in a shed in Massachusetts and undertook a 15 year refit. He had the hull stripped and painted with 3 coats of Awlgrip, as was the coachroof. Teak trim and hatch surrounds had 5 coats of Cetol. All hardware was removed and re-bedded when the hull and deck work was undertaken. Bottom was epoxy coated and bottom painted in 2019. Fresh bottom paint is required. The interior wood was re-varnished and is in outstanding condition. The 62HP Perkins 4154M Engine has 2100 hours. Interior cushions and upholstery need replacement.
The owner brought the boat from Stafford, VA to Deltaville in November and exercised the sails & rig in 20 + knots of wind. He and the crew had a blast, reaching hull speed with the jib, main & mizzen up. The boat is fast and extremely stable.
Make an appointment to come and see this fine vessel. Mid Night needs some work before you go cruising, but you will fall in love with her lines and her build.
The interior of this vessel is warm and inviting. Classic, varnished teak wood finish with teak stripped headliner with stainless steel portlights and overhead hatches providing light and ventilation.
The large galley is to starboard, with counterspace that extends down a walkthrough to the aft cabin. Refrigeration is under the counter amidships and tankage under the counter on the starboard side.
The aft cabin has an enormous berth that runs across the width of the back of the boat. Forward port is a head, with shower; centrally located is the access door to the engine room and on the starboard side is a bank of lockers and drawers for storage.
To port of the companionway is the chart table, behind which is a quarterberth with a 3/4 bunk. Forward is a straight settee with storage below and behind the seating. At the bow end of the settee is more storage. The dinette is to starboard, with a table and 2 ‘bench’ seats that run athwartships.
The forward head is to starboard, with hanging lockers to port and the very comfortable V-berth is in the bow.
